Pro Bird Control Birmingham Tip of the Month:
What should I do with a pigeon after I catch it in my house?
Safely remove the bird
As birds such as Pigeons often like to nest in windowsills, attics, and houses in general, they will often take the opportunity to enter if a window is open. The easiest and most commonly known way to catch a stray bird is to try to throw a towel onto it. The weight will bring the bird to the ground. You can then take the bird and let it out the window.
Use an Exclusion Funnel
You will need protective gear for this activity. Once you have prepared and have bought your funnel, you will need to find all of the holes that the pigeons are using to get in and out of the area. Once you have identified the holes, you must seal all the areas except for one or two, depending on how many places the pigeons are getting through from, this will ensure that the pigeons are forced to go into the funnel. From there, you can release them outside.
Open all windows except for one
Close off open windows, all except for one, for the pigeon to leave from. Ensure the window is wide open, leaving plenty of room for the bird. Turn off lights to make the room as dark as possible. With enough time, the pigeon should fly out of the window.
Pigeon trap
Another commonly used method that is usually used by children to catch birds, though is just as effective, is a bird trap. Simply find a basket big enough for the bird to fit in, leave one side of the basket propped up with a stick or a few rocks or anything you can find. Leave this here until the bird walks underneath the basket, and then quickly remove the item that is holding the basket up. Once you have done this, get a piece of paper or cardboard and slide that underneath, tipping the basket the right way up. From here, you can release your bird back into the wild.
