Pro Bird Control Buffalo Tip of the Month:
What Is Goose Egg Addling?
This is a procedure whereby the eggs or seeds of the goose are made not to be viable. This averts goslings from emerging. The result of this process is an important consequence of decreasing the population of these birds. The yearly hatching is technically diminished by this method. Also, whenever the bird attempts nesting within the same area when they are developed, thereby increasing the populace of the bird in such an area. When they have attempted to nest and they meet with failure for about 2 seasons, the mother bird tends to change the location of her nest in a subsequent season.
The Phases and Approaches To Egg Addling
Diverse approaches exist for performing egg addling. Examples are oiling of eggs, removal of both the nest and egg, replacement with fake eggs, quivering or piercing eggs.
Steps For Egg Addling:Obtain Authority
If you desire to carry out egg addling as the owner of the asset, you must employ the services of professionals licensed and authorized to carry out such services. There are regulatory or licensing authorities performing such tasks.
Locate Nests
These birds construct their nests in various places. Usually, these nests are built either near water or on an island. Although it is not uncommon to see nests around parking lots, on rooftops and on galleries. On some occasions, any shopping mall filled with people is the location for these nests. You have the task of trying to locate where these nests are. Upon discovering the location, mark it with a little banner and note them on a location chart. Because of the aggressive nature of the couples nesting, more than one person is involved and dogs are involved sometimes. For the addling to be successful, every attempt must be made to get the Momma geese away from the nest.
Addling The Eggs
When you succeed in locating the nest, a sort of test referred to as float testing is carried out on the eggs to determine their improvement stage. In the early stage of maturity, the eggs do not glide, therefore covered such with 100% food-grade corn oil to avert oxygen from getting to the kernel, rendering the eggs not qualified to be developed.
Fully matured eggs do not float and as such, they can't be addled humanly. For such, there is nothing you can do other than replacing them in the nest to allow them to develop. This explains the reason why it is explained that action should be undertaken as soon as the geese begin nesting. If eggs are matured and are able to glide, they cannot be addled humanly. The perfect thing to do is putting them back into the nest for maturity. Because of this fact, the action is required whenever it is observed that the birds have started nesting.
