Pro Bird Control Columbus Tip of the Month: Cleaning bird droppings

Bird poop is an unsightly nuisance, highly acidic, foul smelling, and dries quickly. One goose can poop every thirty minutes, dropping up to a pound of poop daily, that's a lot of goose poop assuming they are three or four geese on your property. Since it is highly acidic, as it solidifies quite fast, it damages the surface, and it makes it even harder to clean it up.

Here are some of the ways to clean up after geese pooping.
Use water
Just when its fresh on your lawn or driveway, get a hose pipe and turn on enough water force to wash the poop away. On grass, more or less seeps into the soil.
Getting it off the carpet

For an outdoor rug or carpeting on the porch, if some goose poop has tracked onto your carpet, use a wet cloth and wipe up as much as you can. Spray on some carpet cleaner liquid, give it time to soak and soften, before attempting to clean with wet cloth again. Laundry soap or liquid can also be used if you do not have a carpet cleaner. A little vinegar will help deodorize the carpet.

Cleaning dried poop from driveways

Dried poop is a little harder to remove from surfaces. Use gloves, hose the spot to wet and soften the poop or lay a wet cloth over the poop. Use stiff scrubbing brush or broom and scrub the area to clean off the remainder and pour some clean water. Clean the brush thoroughly.

Cleaning other surfaces

When removing poop from hardwood decking, car or other surfaces, put a warm wet cloth over the poop and carefully wipe the mess. If it does not come off with the first trial, then use of an appropriate cleaner and, a gentle brush is recommended.
